The BBC goes for gossip
January 30, 2009 4 Comments
The BBC is testing a new ”football gossip’ widget. The gossip feed links are by Moreover, as are the “From Other News Sites” sections alongside many of the BBC’s news articles (explained here).
An interesting comment about this widget trial: “Our users tell us that one of the things they value most about our service is our policy of linking openly to other websites.” The New York Times has seemingly had the some of the same feedback, and rolled out Times Extra at the end of last year – Outsell’s Ken Doctor posted an interesting analysis on his blog. (Techcrunch meanwhile called it clutter :)

I like this little widget – is there any way I can get it onto my iGoogle homepage – I have an RSS feed doing something similar just now but I like the idea of the widget better.

Hey Mike, yeah you can actually. See the little ‘get & share’ link at the bottom of the widget – click that and it opens up a little window, just click on the Google icon and it should do it all for you. cheers!
